After a two-year hiatus, Active Streets | Mission-to-Mission is slated to return to the San Gabriel Valley on Sunday, April 28, 2024, creating 5 miles of car-free streets for the public to walk, bike, run, skate, scoot, dance, explore, and play. The free, family-friendly event will once again connect the historic San Gabriel and South Pasadena Mission Districts with downtown Alhambra.
The event route will feature three activity hubs with live music, play zones for kids of all ages, a diverse array of food and beverages, and community groups. Other highlights will include inflatable obstacle courses in South Pasadena, carnival games in San Gabriel, an Earth Day festival in Alhambra, and e-bike test ride zones in San Gabriel and South Pasadena. A 5k fun run/walk will start from the South Pasadena Hub at 8:30am. The San Gabriel High School Marching Band will perform in San Gabriel from 9:00-9:30am. A full list of event activities can be found here. “ActiveSGV is excited to partner with the the cities of San Gabriel, Alhambra, and South Pasadena, Metro Los Angeles, and the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, to celebrate Earth Month with another Mission-to-Mission ciclovia” shared ActiveSGV Program Director Danielle Zamora. “The route linking the historic Mission Districts in San Gabriel and South Pasadena is one of our most popular., a big reason why this will be our third time staging this wonderful community event.” Participants can attend the event via the Metro Rail (A Line, Mission Station), which provides direct access to the South Pasadena Activity Hub. Children four or under ride free on Metro buses and trains, and bikes and scooters may be brought on board at no extra cost. The day will kick-off with a special Opening Ceremony at 8:20am in front of South Pasadena City Hall with local dignitaries, including the Mayor of South Pasadena and Gabe the Sasquatch!
